Melur is the design we recommend when the lot is not wide. By building up instead of out, it fits four bedrooms and a full living floor on a 40-foot plot and still leaves space for a garden.
Downstairs is for the family and for guests: a large living room at the front, dining and a wet kitchen behind, a utility area and a small surau next to the stairs. Upstairs, all four bedrooms are grouped around a landing that can double as a study corner.
The staircase sits in the middle of the plan, so no space is wasted on corridors. Structure and roof are kept simple, which is why Melur costs less per square foot than most double-storey homes.
